At only 27-year-old Heimar has been helping his parents grow coffee since he was a child. However, in 2013 he began farming his own plot of land after his father gifted him a half-acre plot of land, around which he later bought more land. Today Heimar has 15,000 coffee bushes on his mountain farm, with varieties including Pink Bourbon, Castillo, F6, Colombia, Ombligon, Pacamara and Tabi.
Alongside his cousin Julian Silva, Heimar has studied coffee growing, processing, roasting, quality control and brewing at Sena, the National School of Coffee Quality. In addition, he attended courses in agriculture (UNAD), information technology, and completed a barista training.
Heimar continues to work with his father Luis Collazos. Together, they focus their time in the natural processing of Pink Bourbon, as well as producing high-quality coffees with the idea of developing and learning something new every day.
