Taste: Peach, honey, and citrus fruit
The coffee arrived to us directly from Colombia from Elias Roà's Café Andaquí Francy Alarcon in mid-January 2021. ROST & Co. Columbia is a single origin coffee from Elias Roa's farm Finca Tamana with 28 hectares of coffee cultivation and 6,600 coffee bushes per hectare. Through out these plots you can find several varieties such as caturra, Colombia, Castillo, SL28 and pink and red Bourbon, though the Colombia variety was selected for our harvest season coffee!
Elias comes from a family of coffee growers and he started independently growing coffee at the age of 26 by planting 2,000 coffee bushes with his wife and three children on his El Recuerdo farm in Acevedo, Huila. In June 2011, they bought Finca Tamana, which was an empty plot of land that didn't have a single coffee bush ready. Since then, they have built and developed the space as a family. Elia's wife Bellanit has been working closely with all matters related to the space while simultaneously handling coffee sales. Their eldest daughter, Derlin, won the Colombian Aeropress Championship a couple of months ago and is married to Colombian Barista champion Diego Campos. The younger daughter is studying international business at Neiva Huila and their son is currently in high school. It's easy to see that coffee cultivation and a true love for coffee runs in the family!
